Earth7 is a planetary rover revealed as a part of S7 Airlines brand campaign — Best Planet We Know. True emotions come from true experiences. So we built a real rover that can survive hours of autonomous operation during live gaming experience. It can withstand hits, bumps, rocks, different temperatures and most importantly – unpredictable human actions. Rocker-bogie suspension with 20 cm aluminum wheels makes it possible for rover to go off road across wet muddy surface and overcome obstacles up to 40 cm height.
Mission took place on 5 meter curved screen. Augmented reality interface was rendered on top of the rover’s live HD video stream. Augmented reality created an engaging game of collecting samples of life that we rendered dynamically across the desert. Live ambient sound from rover’s location created an immersive atmosphere while the voice of mission control center guided a pilot through the mission.
Every mission has its own set of life samples from Earth that has to be collected in order to win a golden ticket from S7. With every mission samples are placed differently so players could enjoy their own unique story.
